Cree Summer: Cartoon Diva

She's everywhere! These days you can't hardly turn on a cartoon without hearing Cree Summer's distinct voice. Her regular work includes Suzie Carmichael on Rugrats and All Grown Up, Numbuh 5 on Codename: Kids Next Door, the best friend on The Buzz on Maggie, and Foxxy Love on Drawn Together. She's also done guest appearances on numerous shows like Danny Phantom and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. If Conan: Red Nails ever gets released we'll hear the delightful Ms. Summer as the voice of Valeria. In totality Cree Summer's voice credit list amounts to well over a hundred different projects. Would you believe she was Elmyra on Tiny Toon Adventures? Discovering Elmyra and Foxxy Love were the same person totally blew my little mind.

Ms. Summer is quite a singer as well. She's sung in-character on Kids Next Door and numerous Rugrats-related projects, including the opening theme for All Grown Up. I haven't seen a credit for it, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that she's the voice behind the slick theme song for the new superhero toon Ben Ten. In '99 she released a solo album called Street Faerie. I really ought to track down a copy.

If you have a toddler that watches Clifford the Big Red Dog, you'll hear her as Cleo the poodle, too. Every. Single. Day. :)

  2. I forgot that one! My daughter watches a lot of the Kids Next Door and Rugrats. And one of Ms. Summer's first gigs was Kim, the female protagonist of the Care Bears Movie. I've seen that movie way too much lately.
